The press was founded in 1903. Manchester University Press (MUP) is the third largest University Press in the U.K. Manchester University Press distinctive brand is known globally for publishing excellent research in the humanities and social sciences. This research comes from leading names and up-and-coming scholars from around the world, publish over 170 books each year, as well as seven journals.
Hart books have won numerous prizes for their contribution to legal studies. In 2009 Hart was awarded the title ‘Academic & Professional Publisher of the Year 2009’ by the Independent Publishers Guild.
